Scottsdale Artists' School's Outreach Program Reaches Out to Under-Served Children and Families

 

SAS Outreach Programs provide positive effects firsthand, for children where, in most cases, art is not supported as a part of their school curriculum, and is not part of their home life. It offers children education to enhance their art skills and consistent opportunities for an outlet in creativity and inspiration. 

 

CASS Homeless Shelter (North 17)

 

CASS is the largest and longest serving homeless emergency shelter provider in Arizona. Scottsdale Artists’ School’s Outreach program provides professional art workshops for the children of these homeless families.

 

Boys & Girls Clubs (McKee & Piper Branches)

 

The Boys & Girls Clubs provide needy children with resources to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Scottsdale Artists’ School offers monthly “Artist in Residence” Workshops for aspiring teen artists.

 
New Pathways for Youth

 

New Pathways for Youth mentors and connects youth ages 12 to 21 with caring and dedicated adult mentors to help these youth reach their greatest possible potential. Scottsdale Artists’ School connects with New Pathways for Youth to provide scholarships for SAS Youth Summer Camps, Outreach Art Classes for their downtown Summer Day Camps and Art Workshops for mentors and their matches.

 

Scottsdale Public Libraries

 

Scottsdale Artists’ School collaborates with several Scottsdale Public Library branches to offer free guest artist Anime & Mange classes for teens. Mustang Library showcases art from SAS Outreach and Community programs.

Scottsdale Artists' School's outreach team partners with other non-profit organizations to bring the wonder of creativity to specially-abled students in out community.


STARS (Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services) 

 

Scottsdale Artists’ School provides a creative arts program with weekly art workshops at two STARS locations.

 

The Opportunity Tree

 

The Opportunity Tree provides services for adults and youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Scottsdale Artists’ School partners with them to offer monthly art workshops in a true artist studio environment.

 

Breakthrough Academy

 

Scottsdale Artists’ School partners with Breakthrough Academy to offers a series of art workshops in SAS studios for school-age students with learning disabilities (including Dyslexia), Autism, ADHD and Emotional Disabilities. Many of these students have suffered from social and emotional trauma. Art teaches them to think outside the “box” and builds their self esteem.

 

Beyond Vision

 

Scottsdale Artists’ School’s Beyond Vision program provides teaching artists with professional instruction on teaching visually impaired students.

 

Muscular Dystrophy Association

 

Scottsdale Artists’ School provides professional art instructors for MDA Summer Camp workshops in Payson, Arizona as well as one-on-one art workshops with youth ambassadors.

Scottsdale Artists' School supports the mission of Scottsdale sister cities association to build bridges of international understanding and goodwill, one person, one city at a time. 

    • Scottsdale Artists’ School Outreach team partners with Scottsdale Sister City Association in support of their youth art programs which include Young Artist & Authors Showcase, Annual Youth Art & Writing competition for Scottsdale high school students
    • Annual Young Artists & Authors showcase at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts
    • International Teen Art Exchange between Scottsdale and Kingston, Ontario, Canada exhibiting at the Scottsdale Mustang Library and the Tett Center for the Creative Arts.
