SAS partners with renowned artist for 7th Annual Palette Project workshop

Scottsdale Artists’ School is partnering with renowned artist Daniel J. Keys for a free two-day mentorship program called Palette Project. According to a press release, the workshop taking place Friday, Feb. 1 through Sunday, Feb. 3, is designed for ages 17 to 22, who aspire to cultivate their talent and skills in to a future art career. Twenty-one students were selected by Scottsdale Artists’ School and Mr. Keys based on their skills, passion and experience as reflected in an original one-page essay and submission of up to two images of their work required for scholarship consideration, the release said. Selected students come from throughout the state, including Scottsdale, and 16 from out-of-state, noted the release.

Mr. Keys began painting at age 11, using a paint set purchased with birthday money, the release detailed. In 2005, he was rejected as a teen when he asked the owner of a gallery near his home in Fresno, California, if she would represent him. However, 13 years later, he has won numerous awards and his work is highly regarded by distinguished collectors and is displayed in many prominent collections worldwide. He also teaches workshops that attract students from around the world who seek his instruction.
