In this class, students will explore the art of capturing the special bond between people and their pets in portraiture. The class will begin with simple yet effective techniques for painting both human and animal subjects. Emphasis will be on achieving correct shapes, textures, and lines to capture the individual character of both subjects. In addition to human skin tones, students will learn techniques for mixing colors to depict the unique textures and shades of their pet's fur. After establishing the basic tones, students will learn to mix half tones, accents, and highlights, bringing their portraits to life. Throughout the workshop, Jean will provide personalized guidance tailored to each student's needs. For both the seasoned artist and beginner, this class offers the perfect blend of challenge and enjoyment. Demos will be in oil, but pastel is also welcome.
