Demerest-Smith (MFA) has a wealth of experience including 10 solo shows of his large-scale nature-based paintings. This class will bridge the gap between representation, design, and abstraction in a hands-on studio environment. In this class students will explore creating multiple designs for paintings on a theme, moving from an academic study of painting into a mature way of creating paintings. The class will blend abstract forms of thinking about images with the principles of representational art.
