This class is an opportunity to study the art of painting with an accomplished painter of every genre, including still life, landscape, portrait and figurative subjects. Students with little or no experience will be introduced to the tools, materials, general practice and procedures of representational painting. All fundamental concepts will be addressed, including the interrelated topics of drawing, tone, color, edge relationships, and design. This class is also for experienced painters wishing to improve their understanding and practice of the art of painting. The foundational areas of study are the same for every painter, experienced or not! Students may work in the medium of their choice, including watercolor, acrylic, oil and pastels. All fundamentals will be explored through lectures and demonstrations, much of which will be individualized. Students will paint studies appropriate for their level of experience and understanding and paint the subjects of their choice, including simple still life subjects, appropriate photography, the cast, and occasionally the life model. www.robertlemler.com
