Phil Starke’s focus will be on helping students simplify the landscape and mix colors that suggest light, not detail. Two of the most important aspects of painting are a strong design and interpreting of color. Students will focus on developing a sense of design and rhythm, learning to take what the landscape gives them and improve upon it. We will be painting the Santa Catalina Mountains along the Canada del Oro river, a ranch along the Tanque Verde River and old adobes and street scenes in Tucson’s historic Barrio. Phil will demonstrate and give plenty of individual attention. There will be group critiques and dinner together on a few evenings. www.philstarke.com
