Duane Blossom
H Duane Blossom, FASLA, as Adjunct Faculty, at Arizona State University, taught the course “Hand Drawing & Illustration”, with emphasis on building skills in drawing as a key component of design thinking and understanding the environment. The course focused on the role of hand drawing in conveying the designer’s intent through displayed thinking reflecting viewed subjects in the urban scene.
Duane, a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects is a registered landscape architect (RLA), and certified planner (AICP) . His research and professional interests include urban sketching , storyboard and conceptual diagramming with a passion for pen & ink sketching. He received his BSLA from Kansas State University, and MLA from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Duane’s background includes over 40 years of professional practice in the private consulting sector with a mid-career break teaching at the University of Colorado, Denver; with later teaching assignments at Arizona State University , Tempe, Arizona.
