Spencer Simmons

Biography
Spencer Simmons was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and was brought up around painting. His grandmother, an equestrian and western painter, took him into the studio at a very young age. His father, a house painter, showed him the importance of good materials and craftsmanship. He graduated from ASU with a degree in Fine Arts in 2015.  Since then he has been faithfully devoted to painting in a traditional manner in oil and watercolor. He has trained at the Scottsdale Artists School and The Russian Academy of Fine Arts in Florence as well. In 2017 he was the recipient of the Donald Jurney Traveling Fellowship, which enabled him to spend several months painting in Europe. Along with the love of capturing the likeness of a human being the enjoyment of capturing the essence of a landscape has become equally gratifying. He now spends most of his time painting outdoors.
