REGISTRATION
Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Students will receive a registration confirmation email or letter within two (2) weeks of registration. Call the School prior to registering if you have any questions regarding policies.
Early registration is strongly encouraged, as many workshops/classes fill quickly.
Please be aware that Workshops with insufficient enrollment thirty (30) days before their start date may be canceled so it is important to register before that time if possible. Scottsdale Artists' School reserves the right to cancel a workshop up to thirty (30) days prior to the start date. If the School cancels a workshop, students will receive a full refund.SAS recommends that students booking airfare and lodgings prior to this date purchase refundable tickets and refundable accommodations.
Please be aware that Local and Online Programs with insufficient enrollment seven (7) days before their start date may be canceled so it is important to register before that time if possible. Scottsdale Artists' School reserves the right to cancel a local or online program up to seven (7) days prior to the start date. If the School cancels a local online program, students will receive a full refund. SAS recommends that students booking airfare and lodgings prior to this date purchase refundable tickets and refundable accommodations.

PROGRAM POLICIES
All Cancellations must be made in writing via email or mail. Cancellations are not accepted over the phone. There are no exceptions.
To cancel your registration for a workshop, local program, online program or weekly class, send an email to the registrar at registrar@ScottsdaleArtSchool.org, or mail a letter to the Registrar at Scottsdale Artists' School. Cancellations are not accepted via website contact forms. You will receive confirmation by email or mail (if no email address is provided) once your cancellation has been processed.
Scottsdale Artists' School reserves the right to cancel, modify or substitute instructors at any time for any workshop, local program, online program, or youth class. Full refunds will be issued if Scottsdale Artists' School cancels any workshop, local program, online program, or youth class. The School also reserves the right to require the withdrawal of any student whose conduct is deemed detrimental to the School environment. SAS recommends that students booking airfare and lodgings purchase refundable tickets and refundable accommodations.
Scottsdale Artists' School is not responsible for providing make-ups or issuing refunds, credits or transfers for local workshops, weekly classes or one-day classes missed as a result of illness, emergencies or other events beyond the School's control.
WORKSHOP CANCELLATIONS
If you cancel more than forty-five (45) days before the start date of a workshop, the School will retain $100 of your deposit as a cancellation fee and keep $100 as a credit in your account for future use. If you cancel forty-five (45) days or less before the start date, you will forfeit your entire tuition. There are no refunds for no-shows or for withdrawal after a workshop begins.
Please also be aware that workshops with insufficient enrollment at the thirty (30) day deadline may be canceled so it is important to register before that time if possible. Scottsdale Artists' School reserves the right to cancel a workshop up to 30 days prior to the start date. If the School cancels a workshop, students will receive a full refund. Students who wish to transfer from one workshop to another in the catalog must do so forty-five (45) days or more before the start date. No transfers are allowed after that date. Students will be charged a transfer fee of $50.

(Local Workshops, Weekly Classes and One-Day Classes)
If a student cancels more than seven (7) days prior to the start date of a local workshop, weekly class or one-day class, the School will refund the tuition paid, less a $30 cancellation fee. If a student cancels seven (7) days or less prior to the start date, the student will forfeit their entire tuition. There are no refunds for no-shows or for withdrawals after a class or workshop begins.

OPEN STUDIO POLICY
We sincerely appreciate all of the support we receive from our valued Open Studio participants. When registering for any Open Studio session, please note that as of April 1, 2023, we can no longer offer refunds, credits, or transfers if you find that you cannot attend. No exceptions. Thank you for your understanding.

Please be aware that Open Studio sessions with insufficient enrollment may be cancelled up to one (1) day before, in which case students will have the option to receive a credit or a refund.
YOUTH ACADEMY CANCELLATIONS

If you cancel more than seven (7) days before the start of a youth academy class, the School will refund your tuition paid, less a $50 cancellation fee. If you cancel seven (7) days or less before the start date you will forfeit your entire tuition. There are no refunds for no-shows or for withdrawals after a youth academy class begins.
Scottsdale Artists' School reserves the right to cancel a youth class seven (7) days prior to the start date in which case students will receive a full refund.
YOUTH ACADEMY TRANSFERS
In order to transfer from one youth camp or class to another, it must be more than seven (7) days before its start date and there will be a $10 transfer fee.
WAITING LISTS
If a workshop or class is full, interested students may sign up on a waiting list. No registration fee or deposit is required to be on the waiting list. Students will be notified of any openings in the order in which they sign up on the waiting list. When students are notified of openings, they must pay the registration fee and tuition, or they will lose their place on the list.
FRAGRANCE-FREE FACILITY
Starting October 2024, Scottsdale Artists' School will be a fragrance-free facility. Fragrances from some painting solvents, mediums, personal care products and cleaning products have been associated with adversely affecting a person's health including headaches, upper respiratory symptoms, shortness of breath, and difficulty with concentration. People with allergies and asthma report that certain odors, even in small amounts, can cause asthma symptoms. Scottsdale Artists' School will ensure that products used to clean the school are fragrance-free and follow best practices to limit students, instructors and staff exposure to cleaning chemicals and strong fragrances. Scottsdale Artists' School recognizes the hazards caused by exposure to scented products and cleaning chemicals and we have a policy to provide a fragrance-free environment for all students and staff to keep a safe and healthy studio environment. This policy applies to all staff, students and instructors of Scottsdale Artists' School.
Fragrance-Free Policies
- Scottsdale Artists' School expects that all studios and office spaces used by students, instructors and staff to remain free of scented products.
- Use of solvents or mediums containing fragrances (natural or otherwise) are prohibited from the facilities owned and operated by Scottsdale Artists' School. Please use only odorless solvents and mediums.
- Spray fixative may only be used outside the school building and at least 10 feet away from any entrance. Any pieces sprayed with fixative must be completely dry before being brought inside the school.
- Use of scented cleaning products are prohibited for cleaning personal spaces in studios or in office spaces.
- Personal care products with fragrances such as cologne, perfume, aftershave lotions, scented lotions, fragranced hair products and/or similar products are not to be worn anywhere in Scottsdale Artists' School.
COURSE LOCATIONS (non-virtual)
Most workshops and classes are held at the School. Note that plein air painting sites are typically located a 15-60 minute drive from the School. Portable equipment and transportation are required for these courses. Students attending Destination Workshops will be given instructions on where to meet the first day of the workshop, as well as recommendations for lodging.
SCHEDULE CHANGES
Scottsdale Artists' School reserves the right to change its calendar, withdraw or modify a course or substitute instructors at any time. The School will make every effort to notify students of major changes in the schedule. Scottsdale Artists' School reserves the right to require withdrawal of any student whose conduct is deemed detrimental to the School. We recommend that students booking airfare purchase refundable tickets.
PUBLICITY WAIVER
Unless informed otherwise, the Scottsdale Artists' School will consider photographs taken of students in the school and of their artwork to be permissible for publication in School informational publications and marketing materials, including the web.
