John Hughes


John is a member of the Plein Air Painters of Utah as well as the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters. He teaches landscape painting at Salt Lake Community College, as well as private workshops, and classes through the Scottsdale Artist’s School. John and his wife Teresa have lived in Taylorsville, Utah since 1991, where he maintains a studio. He is a highly sought out instructor and painting demonstrator with a national following. Besides painting full time, John writes a column for the on line art ezine15bytes, titled Hints N’ Tips, along with regular articles in the highly acclaimed art magazine, Fibonacci Fine Arts Digest. John was recently profiled in a feature article in Plein Air Magazine along with other publications. His work has also been displayed in a new book by Donna and James Poulton titled “Painters of Grand Teton National Park”.
While John is known for his landscapes in oil, he is equally at home in the mediums of acrylics, watercolor, pencil and charcoal drawing.
John is represented by Montgomery Lee Fine Art in Park City Utah as well as Mountain Trails Gallery in Jackson Hole Wyoming.
