Techniques and Composition for Dramatic Wildlife Painting

Join this intensive, 5-day workshop and discover approaches and techniques for creating dynamic paintings of wildlife. Beginning with an abbreviated lecture on the principles of design and composition and the fundamentals of painting and how they translate into dramatic wildlife paintings. Dustin will guide students through the process of creating a wildlife work from concept to completion; each day focusing on a fundamental aspect of the process. Techniques for overcoming the limitations of reference photography and using reference and field studies to realize the student’s idea, understanding form, design and color to create drama, as well as introducing painting techniques that will enhance one’s work are just some of the vital components of wildlife painting that will be covered in this workshop. Students should bring reference materials such as photographs, field sketches and plein air paintings from which to work. www.dustinvanwechel.com
