Develop drawing skills for representational portraits by exploring key concepts in dry media. Over the course of five days, the instructor will share techniques of charcoal and limited colors of pastels. The class will start by focusing on how to build a strong foundation for portraits in charcoal, then progress to earth tone drawing which provides a sentimental yet unique, strong feeling. The goal of this workshop is to experience a variety of ways of using media to discover your own passion for portraits and find the best medium for your own style. This workshop is good for the artists who want to expand their painting from black and white drawing practice to tonal drawing or who feel the need for more foundational skills to enhance their overall artistry. Students will have 30 to 60 minute sketch sessions and four to six hour drawing sessions with live models.
