This workshop will focus on developing drawing skills for representational portraits and explore the dry medium. Students will learn the key concepts of portraits as well as the fundamentals of head drawing.

Over the course of five days, the instructor will teach and share her knowledge of portrait drawing that includes the techniques of charcoal and other dry mediums. During the week, students will have 30 to 60-minute sketch sessions and 4 to 6-hour drawing sessions with live models. The class will focus on how to build a strong foundation for portrait drawing. Each day will focus on each step of the drawing process. (Proportion, Block-in, Rendering and Finishing up). The instructor will draw alongside students at all times, so the students can watch the step-by-step demonstrations while working on their own drawings. The goal of the last day is to achieve a well rendered drawing compared to the first day’s drawing.  www.sookyilee.com
