Plein Air Painters of America
This workshop will focus on the foundational principles required to complete successful landscape paintings in the field. These instructors all agree that a solid understanding of drawing, value, design, and color is fundamental when it comes to analyzing the subject at hand and completing a solid painting. We will cover these principals in depth and discuss how they apply to organic form which is so commonly found in a natural environment. Participants should expect plenty of personal attention and daily demos. This class is open to all skill levels.
On Monday, all students will attend an all-day lecture series during which each instructor will each lecture for approximately one hour.
There will be four days of instruction (Tuesday-Friday).
The instructors will be splitting into two teams: Matt and Mitch and Skip and Dan. Students will be split into two groups with each group spending two days with each team.
An artist panel Thursday evening 6-8pm at Western Spirit;
Scottsdale’s Museum of the West will be included in the cost of tuition for participating students.
Immediately following the workshop, all four instructors will be traveling to the Vermilion Cliffs in Northern Arizona for three full days of painting. Though it won’t be a continuation of the class, workshop participants are welcome to join us. We will drive up on Saturday the 27th and begin painting on the 28th. Additional information will be provided upon enrollment.
