Plein Air in Studio: The Color of Value

Plein Air in Studio: The Color of Value

This is a two-day in-studio workshop designed for intermediate to advanced students who have had some experience working in plein air or would like to learn techniques to work more successfully on location. Focus will be on designing the large patterns in terms of value (dark to light), developing these shapes into color and keeping the color true to the value they represent. By limiting the number of values, form takes the lead over minutiae, thus, strengthening the impact of the work. Students should bring their own photos and references. Some photo references will be available for students to choose from if needed. www.kathrynstats.com
