Fundamentals of Landscape Painting
In the world of making paintings there are a lot of terms such as modeling the form, cast shadow vs. form shadow, value, temperature! it goes on and on. One of Steele’s favorites is “turning an edge with temperature.” What in the world does that mean? After this class the student will be able to demonstrate it!
Learning to paint is all about seeing. Through direct observation we see shapes, colors and texture. Once we learn to recognize these observations (actually see what we are looking at) we can begin to emulate these forms in a more accurate way. Representational painting focuses on seeing, i.e. What color is it? How light – how dark? What size is it? Students will learn to answer these basic questions and turn those answers into brush marks, taking your work to the next level. Be ready to work and learn and have fun doing it! www.paulsteelefineart.com
