DRAWING:
Drawing is the basis of all art. Students will learn the fundamentals; basic shapes, tone, value and perspective. Students will learn how to analyze a subject working from simple shapes to more complicated shpaes. They will learn how to see and translate size and shape relationships during the drawing process.
PAINTING:
Beginners work with acrylic paints and learn the fundamentals of painting. Advanced students work more independently. Topics include: color theory, composition, brush and palette knife techniques, creating atmospheric and textural effects, developing your own style, use of painting mediums and various other painting applications and techniques.
SCULPTURE:
Students will experiment with a variety of building techniques while they learn to think abou ttheir ideas and adapt to change along the way. Students make pots using the hand-building techniques of pinch, coil and slab. They will be able to decorate their creations using colored slips, and will use tools for texture. Pieces will be fired, providing lasting memories of their time spent in a real, working art studio.
MULTI-MEDIA:
Students will experiment with art materials to create variety in their art. Multi-media classes encourage exploration using a wide range of artists' tools and styles. The theme-based projects include screenprinting and both, 2-D and 3-dimensional art.
