FINE ART SPRING BREAK
March 8-12, 2010• Ages 8-14 • 9 AM - 3 PM • $265
In this Spring “art break”, students will produce artwork with acrylics, watercolor, pastels, pen and ink, watercolor pencil, clay sculpture and charcoal. Mixing colors, learning perspective and basic drawing lessons are also included in this course. Attendees become acquainted with works of various masters and learn terminology pertaining to art forms, techniques and styles. Daily projects incorporate a variety of skills and techniques, with an emphasis on each child creatively expressing his or her unique ideas. The last day, we will host an “Art Show” at 2:30 Friday afternoon, for students to show their artwork to family and friends.

drawing: Pencil & Charcoal
Imagine the wonderful possibilities of creating unique drawings and sketching beautiful
landscapes, or capturing funny sights and precious moments. You will learn basic drawing
techniques including contour, gesture and shading. Enjoy developing new creative skills
and using them to journal your family vacations.
painting: Watercolor & Acrylics
Paint a landscape in acrylics or watercolor a favorite sport and capture the action.
Discover your best side through a self-portrait. Paint your favorite pet and create
colorful still lifes. You'll experience confidence and pride after these artistic
accomplishments.
ceramics: Sculpture & Pottery
Capture a creature in your imagination and transform it into a magnificent clay sculpture!
You'll learn hand building, sculpting, glazing techniques and how to cover an object
in ceramic tiles for an interesting 3-D effect. You'll never look at anyone's face
the same way again, because you'll learn to sculpt the human head. Learn basic anatomy
and clay sculpting techniques. Or is pottery more interesting for you? Then you can
choose to make a functional piece.
mixed: Print Making
Develop a sense of design, color and creativity through projects, collage,
print making and the use of different sculpture and mixed media.
