The Scottsdale Artists’ School offers weekly classes and workshops for everyone from the aspiring novice to the professional artist. Our courses are taught by working, professional artists who are also experienced instructors.
LOCAL PROGRAM VS. WORKSHOP PROGRAM
Our local program is geared towards students living in the Metro Phoenix area, who are looking for an ongoing study in painting, drawing and sculpture. We have four, five and six week courses, offered in the morning, afternoon, evenings and Saturdays.
Our workshop program offers three to five consecutive day intensive workshops, taught by visiting artists. Typical workshop hours are 9 am- 4 pm with 1 hour for lunch.
If you are an absolute beginner, we make getting started easy for you. We have Absolute Beginner courses in drawing, painting, and sculpture.
Our workshops and weekly classes are labeled with different skill levels. Please read the information below carefully as most of our workshops do require a certain level of experience. Those that are tailored specifically to beginners are labeled as such.
ABSOLUTE BEGINNER: Feels lost in an art store but has the willingness to learn the fundamentals.
BEGINNER: Has basic drawing skills and some familiarity with, but is not fluent in the medium or subject matter.
INTERMEDIATE: Draws well. Comfortable working with the medium used, and understands the basic elements of design including composition, value, and color.
ADVANCED: Excellent drawing skills and confident in the medium used.
PROFESSIONAL: Working Artist.
