‘movin’ on up’ to the North Valley
Scottsdale, AZ (December 21, 2007) – Professional artists from Scottsdale Artists’ School are going on-location once again - this time to the North Valley.
“For aspiring artists who can’t come to the mountain for professional art instruction, the mountain is ‘movin’ on up’ to the Carefree/Cave Creek area,” according to Larry Charles, President of the Board of Trustees of Scottsdale Artists’ School.
For eight weeks beginning in mid-January, professional artists will introduce beginning and intermediate North Valley artists to the wonderful world of drawing, watercolor and plein air painting as taught in the studios at Scottsdale Artists’ School.
Registration is still open for classes held every Thursday for eight weeks from January 17 through March 16, 2008, in Cave Creek at the Parish Hall of Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, 6502 E. Cave Creek Road. Students can register by calling 480-990-1422 or on-line at www.ScottsdaleArtSchool.org.
Included in these on-location classes are:
Beginning Drawing, taught by Larry Charles, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Here’s an exciting way to learn drawing. There will be demonstrations using various drawing techniques and methods for getting a realistic image on paper. 8 weeks $360.
Beginning to Advanced Watercolor, taught by Bill Lundquist, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Students can learn and improve watercolor skills, brushwork techniques, ways to apply and remove color, tips for washes, and salvaging ‘hopeless’ paintings. 8 weeks $360.
Plein Air Open Studio, taught by James Coulter, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. In this class students should be comfortable painting in oils and have some experience with outdoor landscapes. Classes are informal and held at different Sonoran desert locations. 8 weeks $360; 4 weeks $215; One day $60.
“For years, Scottsdale Artists’ School has been exporting top notch artists and creative art expertise to scenic and in-demand art venues throughout the United States, in Canada, even Vietnam,” Charles said. “In Arizona, we’ve been to Tucson and Sedona. We now think it’s about time to visit our art-enthused neighbors in North Scottsdale, Carefree, Cave Creek, Anthem and other North Valley communities.”
Hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm weekdays and 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturdays. Admission is free and open to the public. Scottsdale Artists' School is located at 3720 N.
