SCOTTSDALE ARTISTS' SCHOOL TO HOST TWO OFF-SITE WORKSHOPS

Scottsdale, Ariz (05/01/09) COOL OFF WITH SCOTTSDALE ARTISTS' SCHOOL OFF-SITE WORKSHOPS ON MACKINAC ISLAND, MICHIGAN

Renowned Artists, Robert Lemler and John Poon Teach Offsite Workshops

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (April 29, 2009) – Scottsdale Artists’ School announced two painting workshops this summer to be hosted off-site at Mackinac Island, Michigan. Instructor Artists, Robert Lemler and John Poon will be teaching the workshops, with students lodging at the old-fashioned Murray Hotel in June and July.

Robert Lemler will be teaching Plein Air Painting on Mackinac Island June 22 – June 26. With an endless variety of subjects to discover on the island, the class will explore subject matters that include Victorian style architecture, historic churches, coastal vistas and quiet harbors. Lemler is a respected and dedicated artist and teacher educated at Northern Arizona University. His award-winning paintings are exhibited in fine art galleries throughout the country and are included in numerous corporate and private collections.

From July 13- 17, John Poon will be teaching Landscape Painting in Oil on Mackinac Island. This workshop will cover the fundamentals of composition, color and value as the basis for painting successful landscapes. Working from both photo references in the studio and from life out on location, it is the aim of the instructor to help each individual develop greater skills of observation, greater competency in studio, and successful plein-air techniques. John Poon has been a working artist for the past 20 years. He graduated from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, winning numerous student awards and scholarships. John Poon’s paintings can be found in various public and private collections across the country.
