John Michael Carter a skilled teacher with over 30 years of experience, studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, and received his BFA from the Art Center College of Design. Since 1975 he has had more than 39 one-man shows and has won major awards including one of four top award winners at the Arts for the Parks competition and first prizes from Oil Painters of America and Portrait Society of America. Carter’s commissioned portraits include governors, senators and university presidents, as well as corporate and civic leaders.
