Ron Hicks was a student whose artistic talents were recognized early. Throughout high school, he was invited to attend Saturday art classes at the Columbus College of Art and Design. His early talent was recognized when he won the Best of Show at the Ohio State Governor's Show. After attending college, Hicks moved to Denver to continue his art education at the Colorado Institute of Art and the Denver Art Students League, where he studied with Quang Ho, David Leffel, Kim Macky and others. He worked initially as an illustrator, but his heart was always in fine art. After winning Best of Show at the 1994 Denver Art Student League Exhibition, he began painting full time, and he is now considered one of America's finest emerging artists. Feature articles about Hicks have appeared in Art & Antiques, Southwest Art and American Artist Magazine.
