Aaron Westerberg

Bio:

Aaron Westerberg is a native Californian who grew up in San Diego.  Aaron was interested in many things until he took a class in traditional life drawing. Drawing became his focus and he studied at the California Art Institute for two years. He flourished in these classes and expanded his focus to include the study of Edmund Tarbell, John Singer Sargent, Anders Zorn and other 19th century artists.

These masters of form, color and light have stayed with him as inspiration as he strives to capture the subtleties that express the uniqueness of his subjects.  Aaron says about his connection to classical art - "When it\'s something that has been done in the past, you feel a lineage almost like a classical musician would.  It\'s the same experience those artists before you had, and you share in that."

This connection to history can be seen in Westerberg\'s style.  He sees his paintings as a combination of old world techniques and contemporary subject matter while at the same time striving for elegance and timelessness.  His focus is on values, edges, and brushstrokes was well as a solid use of color and contrast.
