C. Michael Dudash
C. Michael Dudash believes : An artist should have a purpose for the art they create, and an artist should be able to quickly articulate that purpose. All art communicates something, and unless you know what you are communicating, how does one know what creative decisions to make in the process of creating your art? Remember, the mind is the "battleground" - great paintings are imagined and produced there first, and secondly on the canvas. Paint with no fear, especially do not be afraid to make "mistakes". Work at your craft and knowing your tools - let your tools do most of the work.
Regardless of subject, my motivation is to always move the heart of the viewer by reflecting the beauty of the created world around us. A piece of art must first capture a person's imagination, prompting them to take a longer look, and long enough to feel something. In my case feel something positive.
When giving instruction, my goal is to help the student develop the skills and inspiration they will need to achieve this goal in their own work.
