Putting the Horse in Action!
Students will be given the tools to sculpt the horse with greater strength. Students will explore composition and bringing the sculpture to an expression of what they want to say in their piece rather than just an accurate model. Topics covered will include: proper proportion and how to achieve it, how to express the fleshy and bony parts of the horse; the way the rhythms of the horse’s body are made and how to keep them throughout the piece. Students will look at how the horse moves and expresses himself. Special attention will be paid to composition and how to make the piece come to life. Students will build on the fundamentals of mass, texture, light and design. The ultimate goal is to give students the tools to identify their own sense of design so they can move toward making unique statements in sculpture. The intent is to be able to create without limits. There will be daily demonstrations and critiques for the students as the principal means of instruction. Curt will spend as much time as possible with students to maximize their instruction and growth.
