This workshop will take place in the beautiful autumn environs of Star Valley, Wyoming, on the Anderson Creek Ranch and its neighboring vicinity. Anderson Creek Ranch is located only an hour and a half south of Grand Teton National Park. The area has a lot of diverse subject matter, with barns, mountains, cottonwood trees and farm fields. The instruction will focus on three main areas of study that all painters need to learn in order to perfect their craft:

  • 1– Light, and how it behaves on natural objects such as trees, mountains, barns and
  • 2– Design, which depends on patterns of light, mid-tone and dark shapes to be effective.
  • 3– The Artist’s Toolbox of Drawing, Color, Value, Edges and Brushwork. John is an experienced teacher who will help students simplify the painting process, enabling students to create landscapes that more effectively express their vision as an artist.

Portable equipment and transportation required. Students will receive lodging recommendations upon registration.
