This workshop will focus on animal portraiture and the landscape. The first two days animals will be the subject matter – capturing their amazing spirit on canvas. Whether painting a portrait of a cow, lamb or one’s beloved pet(s), students will take advantage of the beauty of animals to work on creating good composition, interesting brushwork and focus on values, edges and color mixing. Using these techniques, the workshop will shift subject matter for the last two days to painting the inspiring landscape. Students will continue to explore the techniques discussed in the animal portrait section of the workshop to develop exciting landscape paintings. During this entire workshop, Julee will stress the idea of taking risks, being energetic in one’s painting marks and approaching their painting fearlessly.

Students will work from their own photos and studies. Please bring good photos with interesting light and subject matter to make the most of this workshop.
