Siegel - Supply List

Michael Siegel will be giving a five-day workshop on the art of portraiture and still life. This workshop will focus on the “chiaroscuro” approach of the old masters, which uses strong light and rich shadow to create intense and dramatic paintings. The workshop will include two instructor demonstrations, illustrating Michael’s technique and giving insight into his methods and philosophies. Students will have the option to paint either portrait or still life, or both, during the course of the workshop. Michael will also help students set up their own vivid still-life compositions, and there will be a live model each day, as well. All painting will be done from life. Special attention will be given to the unique properties of light and shadow, as well as design, value, edges, color, and sculptural brushstroke.
