Figurative Painting Program: Color
A sound understanding of drawing and tonal relationships logically precedes the study of color. During this second 10 week block of the Figurative Painting Program students will study color and color mixing for the representational painter and how the color of light affects these choices. Beginning with an understanding of the primary color palette, students will explore other limited color palettes including the color choices of Anders Zorn, Ned Jacob, and Richard Schmid. The interrelated topics of this block will be examined in the painting of a master copy as well as portrait, nude, and costumed subjects.
