Colorful and light-filled paintings will be the goal in this class!  An artist’s connection to the scene is very important, so students are encouraged to bring their own landscape photos that really excite them.  In class, students will explore color and compositional strategies that simplify their painting process, pull their paintings together, and add just the right touches of drama through light and shade.  Most paintings are won – or lost – based on the artist’s knowledge and handling of the elements and principles that lay underneath the surface details. Color schemes, design structure, light, depth, and atmosphere will be in focus as the instructor presents useful information through discussion, demonstration and personalized instruction. Students will take away new insights to add to their artists’ tool box! (The instructor will use oil paints, but acrylic paints are welcome)
