PAINTING OUTDOORS WITH DAN YOUNG
IN GLENWOOD SPRINGS, COLORADO
Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Aug 9-13, 2010
Meets 9:00 AM-4:00 PM
Tuition: $660.00
Level: All Levels

The emphasis of this class will be working on location in beautiful western Colorado. The class will base out of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. There will be a great variety of subjects to challenge the students. We will work on the skills necessary for gathering information in the field and editing it to create stronger paintings. Young feels that the way you start a painting is just as important to how you finish it. You must have an organized thought process when you approach a painting. We will work on the importance of composition, drawing, values and color; the fundamentals necessary for creating a good painting.

The summer weather in Colorado is very pleasant but can change in five minutes, so come prepared for all weather conditions.

Bring your paint gear, a sandwich, sunscreen and a sense of humor for an enjoyable week in Colorado!

* Glenwood Springs, Colorado, is just 40 miles from the Aspen/Vale area. Glenwood Springs is a three hour drive from the Denver Airport, and just one hour from both Grand Junction and Eagle Airport (Eagle Airport has direct flights from a number of major cities).

G. RUSSELL CASE
Western painter G. Russell Case is inspired by nature, but he places little value on literal translations. His sweeping, idealized versions of the western landscape are compositions that combine the beauty of the natural world with the rich imagination and originality of an artist’s mind. Case’s work is represented by numerous galleries all over the country. He has won numerous awards including: Best of Show and First Place Oil Painting, Phippen Western Art Show in Prescott, Arizona in 2001; First Place at Southwest Magazine Artist to Watch Show in Steam Boat Springs, Colorado in 2002; and Best of Show, People’s Choice, and Artist’s Choice, Maynard Dixon Country, Mt. Carmel Junction, Utah in 2003. Among Case’s more recent shows are the Western Visions show in Jackson, WY; Coors Western Art Exhibition, Denver, CO.; and Maynard Dixon Country, Mt. Carmel.

* Portable easel required
* Class limited to 12 students
