Course Title: Sculpting the Figure and Portrait

Course Meets: 08-08-2012  - 08-29-2012

Time: 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM

Tuition: $180 + $35 Model Fee

Description: No experience is needed to participate in this class, only a desire to work in clay in a figurative format. If you have experience with clay, that’s great too. This class is designed to be a no stress experience. With both the portrait and the figure, we will concentrate on the fundamentals, including the proportions, the features, simple constructions and the expressive composition of the sculpture. Our goal with the portrait sculpture is to learn to attain a likeness of our subject in clay. The focus of the figurative sculpture is working with a live model and building an armature. We will then work with proportions of the human body and the expressive qualities of gestures. Students may work on any or all of these offerings, using the model as our reference.
