Description: This class is specially designed for artists who have always wanted to sculpt but have been too afraid to try. While this class is geared towards the novice, it will also allow experienced sculptors to revisit the fundamentals and explore the joys of the creative process. We will use water-based clay so students can have their sculptures fired in a kiln, thus avoiding the expense of molds and bronze casting costs. My primary goal for the class is for you to have fun while learning about sculpture. The first session of this class will meet at my studio to discuss the creative process and determine your goals and supply needs for the course.

There will be additional demonstrations and discussions on finishing your sculpture, applying cold patinas on fired clay and simple mold making techniques.

Description: Let’s sculpt! Sculpture is a wonderful activity, hobby and career. There are times that you run across a picture that you think is fantastic and you would love to create a sculpture of it. Or, if for whatever reason a live model isn’t available or possible, what to do? Photographs and drawings are fantastic resources for inspiration and references. In this class we will create a 3-dimensional portrait sculpture from a flat, 2-dimensional image. Collect a variety of pictures from magazines, books and photographs and bring them so we can make the best August 7-28, 2013 choice for your masterpiece.
